There are two periods in the World history: Prehistoric and Historic periods.

RAVANA'S MACHINE
King Ravana existed around 6000years which comes under Prehistoric period. There are evidences of many inventions that have taken place during this period, aviation being one of them. Kind Ravana possed a aviation machine called "Pushpaka Vimana" which was a flying machine.This machine was used for his millitery exploits, but this machine followed his mental commands. It was more mythical and magical in nature. The way this machine was described in Epic Ramayana was:

"decorated with pearls and diamonds, and featured with artistic windows made of refined gold. It was the final result of the great prowess gained by austerities. It could fly in any direction that one wanted. It had chambers of remarkable beauty. Everything about it was symmetrical and unique. Knowing the intentions of the master, it could go anywhere at high speed unobstructed by anyone including the wind itself ".
It is difficult to imagine any aircraft made of Gold and diamonds to fly in the air unless there is some magic involved.

In fact, around this time there were lots of Gods(Devas) and SemiGods(upadevas)in Indian history who could fly in the air and could posses extraordinary powers. Ravana's machine would come definetly in this categeory.

HISTORIC MACHINE - WRIGHT BROTHERS
Historic period is our Modern history. The first airplane invented was by Wright brother's in 1903. This initial design was developed and taken the form of Modern day aeroplane.

Hence, Both King Ravana and Wright brothers were FIRSTS in their own periods.
