Usually I'm running around campus half-starved with little to no time to cook anything until I discovered the blender! Now I can throw in whatever I have sitting in the fridge and freezer and pull off some of the yummiest, most delectable smoothies that has the Smoothie King looking not-so-smoothie king-ish (or Jamba Juice not so Jamba-juicy).
Seriously though, all you need is a blender (borrow one if you have to), an ice maker or an ice tray for a source of crushed ice/ice cubes, some form of dairy (yogurt or milk), and your choice of fresh, frozen, or canned fruit (whatever's available to you).
Here are some badass smoothies I have concocted thus far:
*STRAWBERRY BANANA (the classic)
(one serving)
1 whole peeled and sliced banana (preferably ripe)
2 cups ice cubes (more or less depending on how icy you like it)
1 cup of Strawberry flavored yogurt (low-fat, non-fat, or regular)
*ADVOCADO (if you love advocados, this one's for you)
(one serving)
1 whole cut and scraped advocado (the riper the better)
2 cups ice cubes (ditto from the remark above)
1 cup of milk (low-fat, skim, or whole)
Blend that baby together and pour it in a cup or mug and you're off! SO easy and SO healthy! Now off to do some more experimenting...maybe this time with soymilk. mmm. Have fun being creative!
