Ten tips for a fairytale wedding at a budget price
Your wedding day is meant to be one of the most amazing, special experiences of your life and yet the cost can usually dampen our enthusiasm and create extra stress (where we really don't need it). The cost of a standard wedding these days is around $25,000. This amount of money can seem outrageous to many of us especially to those of us trying to buy our first homes and planning for a family etc.
We all want our day to be beautiful and perfect but not at the expense of our bank balance AND our sanity. There is nothing worse than still paying for your wedding two years after the fact.
Here are ten tips on how to have a fairytale wedding at a budget price:
1. Firstregister as a wedding business so you can buy everything you need at wholesale price (I recommend as a wedding planner) this enables you to use many different retailers. Its amazing how much cheaper everything becomes. It's totally legal and will cost you about one hundred odd' dollars to register.
2. Look in the yellow pages for wholesale retailers of wedding supplies and work your way through.
3. Buy your own paper from a craft shop and print up your own invitations. These look just as good and will save you hundreds of dollars.
4. When buying the cake try not to have too many iced' flowers etc as this pushes up the price. Also, use your cake as dessert (saves a bundle on the catering cost).just beware of the function centres that charge a serving fee' when do this. Some charge as much as $10 each plate.
5. Have your flowers made from a florist which is based from home (no rental costs results in cheaper bouquets). Also, some florist freeze dry flowers and provide a cheaper rate if you use them for both. Another flower tip - If you want roses for your wedding, try rose wholesalers who sell seconds' which means that the stems are not perfectly straight (this doesn't matter when creating a bouquet). The flowers are just as beautiful. I am able to get second' roses for twenty cents EACH. Check with a florist if they will prepare the bouquets for you if you supply the flowers. HUGE savings.
6. Make your own bonbonnieres. You can buy many of the items you need from florist suppliers. Have a girlie' night and get your friends to help you with these (having a couple of drinks and a chat at the same time makes this quite fun).
7. Buying your dress.ask bridal shops if they have seconds' or any discounted gowns. I know most brides consider their wedding dress as one
