Product reviews: Bare Essentials

My first encounter of Bare Escentuals (or bare minerals) was last year when I was researching items to put on my shopping list when I went to the states. I had always wanted to try mineral makeup but we don't have any distributor here in my city. Cosmetics that don't do harm to skin? Isn't that the ultimate dream for every makeup-holic? I admit that, first, I was skeptical on whether the powdery foundation could stay on my face, "wouldn't that just fly off into the sky immediately after I put on?" I thought to myself.

Anyway, I put my questions to sleep and decided to give it a try. I was dead excited to run into Sephora and test out the starter kit. The experience was really fun. Not only the staff was helpful in getting the right shades for me, but she also shared her own experience of using the items. She told me that one time she was so tired after a party and she didn't bother to take the bare minerals off her face. "Oh, that's a deadly sin!" I screamed, "you're not afraid that it will clog your pores and then pimples would be saying 'HI' to you the next day?" She smiled and told me that, amazingly, her skin was completely normal the next day. "Of course, I am not encouraging you not to remove your makeup after switching to these, but I am just trying to explain how good and trustworthy they are," she stressed. I bought the starter kit which included a foundation for my shade, one darker shade so that I could mix to get the right color if I get any darker (how thoughtful!), a bronzer, a loose powder (mineral veil), a primer and 3 brushes. I additionally bought a blush too.

I couldn't wait to try them on the next day and it was just totally fabulous! I felt like there was nothing on my face and I felt like my skin could finally breathe through the foundation. After I was done with all the colors, I applied mineral veil on top and I definitely regarded this as the soul product. It helps blending everything together and unites them in some ways. I looked closer into the mirror and I saw a soft finish which was very natural. I met a friend for dinner that night and she immediately asked me if I changed my makeup as it looked nice and more sophisticated. To my surprise, the makeup lasted all day and I barely needed any re-touch. And the next thing I know was that I was standing inside Bare Escentuals store and packing everything in full size. When I was there, I noticed they had a wide collection of colors for people of different tastes.

I am still using their products and I am absolutely in love with them. If you want a natural look, or are scared that makeup would ruin your skin, you might want to check this brand out. Speaking from my own experience, I have no regret so far.
