N.C. here. Nifong and Durham Police Dept both screwed up! Read these facts folks! Once someone is jailed, their assets frozen in a case such as this. How is Nifong going to compensate the kids in jail? First, one kids lawyer dropped dead from stress due to the case. Now that kid had a close relationship with that lawyer that passed and he was forced to face issues of mourning on top of where his future would go without that representation and those friendly views. This trial was massive in North Carolina with craziness. You had the strippers biker friends all over the courthouse not to mention all the other hooplah! What does all this have to do with Mike Nifong? He wanted that spot in office and was going to do anything to get it! Sure, he should go to jail but I say AFTER he compensates the kids of that unbelievable situation. Then let his assets go into a deep freeze. Take the case of the 'Stairs' when Peterson was charged with his wifes death in North Carolina. His assets froze so fast, his daughters who were mortified over the death could not be compensated from Peterson due to the assets being frozen. All the same, Nifong should get fined, should compensate and then go to jail. Most people think that the prisoners would do to Nifong the same thing he did to those boys. He's screwed!
