Globalization is one of the hottest topics in the world, but how to measure the level of globalization, few people know. In simple, globalization means countries are not independent any more; they connect to each other by goods, people, funds and information.
Who benefits most from globalization? People always think America is the leader of globalization and benefits the most. Actually, Singapore is the highest level of globalization. The international traveler in Singapore is three times than its local residents, also the annual international calls is higher than other industry countries. America is far behind this rate.
However, Asian economic crisis happened years before, which have a big effect on the international trading and foreign investment in Singapore. In addition, the slowly developing from national companies to private ownership which limits Singapore keeps in touch with other countries. If these problems cannot be solved, Singapore may drop from its number one position.
Behind Singapore, it is the countries have big land but small population, such as Holland, England, Canada. Internet and telephone is the basic life elements in these countries. Because of the narrow local markets, these countries need to explore internationally. So, these countries may replace of Singapore as the number one globalization country in future.
In America, you can go out without cash, credit cards and exchanges on the Internet make cash useless. Well, in Japan, hundred thousands in the pocket are normally. Highly depend on the foreign markets, materials makes Japan far behind the globalization.
Normally, the level of globalization depends on the extreme disparity between the rich and the poor. The differences smaller, the higher globalization is.
