NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give in to terrorism. I think we should take a page from the Super-nanny's book. If you give in to the demands of terror, the terror will increase, and it will run over you and destroy you. Instead, you make rules and consequences for breaking them and then you enforce them. Terrorists are like very dangerous two-year-olds who think 'throwing a violent fit' will get them their own way. Unfortunately, that is all too often true. If you give an inch, they will take a mile. I hate being trite, but it's often trite because it's true. We should never give in, not even a smidgen of an inch to anyone who 'breaks the rules' of decent humanity.

Bullies are often defeated by standing up to them. People often will do whatever you let them do. Don't send a message that we will cower in fear when the terrorist bullies make demands. Send the message that we will not tolerate their behavior and we will make them pay if they continue to act up. It seems simplistic, but it's still true: for two-year-olds and terrorist bullies alike.
