Spiderman 3 is the latest installment in the spider man series featuring two new bad guys venom and sand man. Really there is a third bad guy which is the alien life form that creates the black spiderman suit and ultimately creates the venom character.

Sand man is a more complex villain than any of the others in the spiderman series. He is a villain of circumstance rather than a villain of choice. He is the killer of peter parker's uncle from the first movie which gives Spiderman a real incentive to get revenge on this villain once he discovers that. But this villain has a bit more sympathetic quality than other bad guys. He steals money but not for personal use. He is trying to save his own son from dying of a fatal disease and cannot afford to pay the medical bills. He killed parker's uncle by accident in a robbery gone bad. He wanted to steal but was not trying to kill.

Venom, however, is truly a bad guy. He starts out as a rival reporter (to parker) and ultimately is taken over by the black spider suit and becomes a superstrong bad guy.

The black suit itself is really a villain on its own. It is an alien life form (I guess anyway from watching the movie) that adheres itself to one of spiderman's suits and then takes over his personality little by little making him more and more aggressive (and strong).

Spiderman has to deal with all three in this film along with his old friend the son of the green goblin. The son attempts to recreate the green goblin and does battle with spiderman as well at times in the film but ultimately sees the error of his ways and joins forces with Spidey.

Personally I found this one to be slightly better than the 2nd movie in the series. There were better villains and overall the movie seemed to move at a faster pace. I would give this movie a three out of four stars.
