Most terrifying horror movies

As a horror movie enthusiast, I can honestly state that I have yet to come across a horror movie that is truly terrifying. However, I can recommend a few that definitely made me uneasy and gave me that creep factor we so crave when watching a horror flick. Please bear in mind, I don't base horror upon gore as gore is the equivalent to watching surgeries on the Health Channel. Horror is that uncertainty that has you questioning your surroundings along with all the familiarities you are accustomed to. At least in my opinion anyways.

1) Pet Sematary- Children in horror films tend to rub me the wrong way. The stealing of their implied innocence becoming dark and impure can never be pleasant. Anyone who watches this movie and can claim they didn't feel uneasy when the little boy says,"First I play with Judd, then Mommy came, and I play with Mommy. We play Daddy! We had a awfully good time! Now, I want to play with YOU!" they may want to talk to a professional if they haven't done so already.

2) Candyman- What can I say? I saw it as a teenager and it has freaked me out ever since. You have bees, an urban legend, some crazy woman that can't leave well enough alone, Candyman with the damn bees together at the same time and to boot the majority of it all takes place in the ghetto. To this day you can't pay me enough to say Candyman 3 times in front of any mirror. I'll pass on that one.

3) Hellraisers I and II- An intellectual evil demon being is just wrong and creepy on so many levels I would be here all day discussing the psychology behind the main demonic character.

4) High Tension- This was one of the first movies in quite sometime that I literally said,"Wow" when it was over. The plot itself is sick and then the twist of it all makes it even worse.

5) Exorcist- Sorry, I had to do it. The fact alone that it is based upon a true story is enough for me. Granted some of the facts were slightly modified for the film the premises remained the same. Whether you believe in demonic possession or not, the mere realization of knowing that the individual had no recollection of their where abouts or why time had elapsed due to not having control of their own self is quite eerie.

People may agree or disagree with some of the aforementioned choices as it is all a matter of personal taste. All I can say is that if you haven't seen any of those yet you may want to look into them. I just had the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just writing about them.
