Swingers are people (not necessarily couples, who engage in swapping sexual partners. They literally come in all shapes and sizes: they can be of any combination of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, political and religion affiliation et cetera. "Why do they take part in such non-traditional activities?" one may ask. There is no universal answer. Contrary to the common stereotype, most swingers are not simply trying to escape possible distress in their primary relationships or legitimately cheat' on their partners.
For many it is an ability to fulfill their fantasies, challenge their prior beliefs about sexual expression and explore their sexuality in a safe setting. Swinging lifestyle is by no means problem free as many participants experience misunderstandings and jealousy. Communication between partners is key in resolving these difficulties.
In order to lower the incidence of infidelity-related marital conflict a swinging couple (or any other formation) will have to work things out through communicating their boundaries to each other and making these boundaries known to the couple they plan to swing with. Learning the boundaries of the other participating couple is equally as important.
The swinging lifestyle comes with both pleasures and challenges, but it is worth exploring for those individuals who consider themselves open-minded and adventurous.
