Our mixed breed Chihuahua dogs, communicate with us in so many human like ways. We did all the usual things that was talked about on "Dr. Harry" as all Australian know, he is our favorite T.V. Veterinarian. Just looking into their eyes, calling their names, the next step was giving them a treat and getting them to sit. They gradually got to know our voice, commands. The next step we took, was house training, that took a bit, but being a mother, watching for all the signals, getting used to the toilet training, then next was, going out for walks, walking is their favorite time. Each time they did something great or good while they are walking we gave them a treat. Just even to praise them for being good and not to give them a treat, is enough in their eyes because, they know there is a lot of love. Treating them same way as I treated our children, has been enough for Tibby and Charlie to learn how to talk with us.
We have many conversations, while we are walking; my little dogs look up to me with such wise eyes. I am really in awe of Tibby and Charlie, as I swear they understand me. A funny thing, each morning when we set out for our walks, Charlie usually takes the lead, there is so many different ways we can go. The reason for that is the area in which we live. Some-how he knows what I am thinking so we usually end up were I wanted to go. Talking to all the other dogs we meet in their usual way.
It is winter time now in Australia, here in South Australia it has been bitterly cold. Tibby and Charlie, have new hand Knitted Jumpers, that they wear each morning walking, when we get back, they stand by the back-door and wait for me to take their jumpers of. They will not go inside until I take their jumper off!. If I do not go to the barrel, where their Shmack o's are kept I am in trouble, there is a mat on the kitchen floor. Tibby and Charlie sit there until I get them there Shamck o's, when we get back from our walk. When our daughter visits with her dogs, she has 2 dogs as well, sometimes the 4 dogs end up walking together. My daughters dogs have even got into the habit of going to the barrel together with Tibby and Charlie waiting for their treats. All the dogs are wise they know their routines. Funny things happen when walking with Tibby and Charlie, sometimes I stand alongside the edge of the creek daydreaming watching the birds. Tibby and Charlie are wandering along the creek ahead of me then all of a sudden they come back to me and jump on my legs as if
