First Love

I saw him there, a boy so sweet and fair.
His face, his laugh, his careless ways
Seemed so sincere and rare.

What should I say?
My heart, my feet, they run amuck
As if my soul has split in half.
I could not turn, nor could I hide
As words spilled out my heart.

Why did he stare?
He seemed so far
And yet he stands a while.
It is as if he hears my mind,
My heart, my life...
