One of my very first dates was with a boy who went to a rival high school to mine. We went to the football game when our schools played each other. He sat diagonally above me on the bleachers and kept looking past me. Most of the time I was watching the game, but whenever I looked at him to make a comment or something, he was looking past me to where the band was playing.
"Excuse me," he said, "I see my ex-girlfriend over there. I'm going to go say hi." He hadn't made eye contact with me once. I sat there with a few of my friends and didn't worry about it. He didn't come back until the end of the fourth quarter! He said, "Hey, I'm sorry I've been such a jerk ... I'm just going to go hang out with Lindsey now if that's okay." He walked away without giving me a chance to respond.
He and his ex-girlfriend got back together that night and now they're married!
