Let's face it: private colleges are mostly for the ones who can afford them. That's the parents that sent their kids to private elementary, middle, and high schools. They are the ones who are sheltered, think the world revolves around them, and are slightly stuck up. Now if you went to private school and you weren't stuck up or you think that there are stuck up people in public schools also, then I apologize and you're probably correct. But the majority of private high school students go on to continue their sheltered education in private colleges. Private colleges may be good for them, but for the rest of the middle and lower class that have to work to get by, public colleges are fine for us. Not only is the cost lower than private, but they don't mind the little things that the private colleges freak out about. For example, students in a private school can't live female and male at the dorms. I'm not saying that's right or wrong, but I think there are different situations for different cases. If your best friend is male and you're female, both low on cash, and think it will save money to live together, then you couldn't do that in a private college. But of course, why would two people who are low on cash even be at a private school? If you've been in a private school all your life, then private college would be fine. But if you don't want a rude awakening when you get out of college, then you should think about filing an application at a private school.
