When I was young, my life did not revolve around school. Yet, I felt that I had my best memories from my primary school, and I will never forget the teachers and friends I had met in there.
I was always a soft-spoken girl, with no courage to speak in class at all. When I first started school at age 7, I was so quiet and soft, my teachers had to ask me to speak up. I got to know a small group of friends, and gradually I warmed up to my classmates. Games like catching, police and thieves, five stone, hop scotch, were all played together with my friends. Skipping recess became a norm for us, as we rushed to the field with cries of "last one to reach is the catcher!", and we made use of what little time we had to enjoy ourselves. Getting scolded by my mother for not eating the bread she prepared for me everyday became a norm as well.
As I progressed through the education system, I came into contact with more and more teachers. Some were gentle with us, while others were stricter. Because of them, I slowly had the ambition of becoming a teacher one day. This ambition did not change over the years (except for once when I contemplated about being a zoo-keeper instead), and now, I am training to become a teacher. I realised that I had been influenced by my own teachers, and I knew that I too have the ability to reach out to students and guide them along in school.
One of my best memories I had during my school days was when I scored a perfect score for my Chinese test paper. It was the first and only time that I scored a 100 marks throughout my entire life, and it was my proudest moment. Although now I know that it is almost impossible to get a 100% grade, I know that I have the ability to do well, and I will always try my best to reach my goals.
These early memories spur me on sometimes, when I look back and lament about how carefree life was when I was still in the early stages of the education system. Stress drags down spirits, but these memories of early school life help me regain my footing, refreshes my soul with confidence, and I can start afresh again.
