Deciding if a business degree is right for you

After spending an agonizing first year in college, trying to figure out what I wanted to major in, I ended up calling my father and asking his opinion. He said, "Just get a business degree, you can always get a good job with that!" Being 19, and unaware of what I really wanted to achieve with my life, I decided to go to Business School like my father suggested.

Looking back I feel like a fool. If my father had known that I wasn't just asking him for some quick advise, I wanted some REAL advise. I wish he would have advised me to find out what it was that intrigued me the most and researched what I needed to study or do to make sure I ended up earning a living doing what I loved.

A business degree is a great starting point for someone who wants to work in sales or marketing at a entry level position. Now days if you want to make any money in Business, first you need a Masters degree, with a specific area of expertise,(such as International Marketing), and you also need an outgoing personality. Oh, and lets not forget, someone who is willing to work 60 to 80 hours a week to move up the ladder.

What you should really do is find out what you really love, from your heart, and go for it. You don't need a business degree to start a business, or be a successful salesperson, you just need to have smarts, personality, and passion! So save your money and invest that money in real estate, so you can figure out what it is that you would really like to do with your life!
