Who are we kidding, the Dark Knight of Gotham would wipe the proverbial floor with the Man of Steel. What's that, you don't believe me? Suit yourself, go ahead and bet on the man from Krypton, but remember that above all, Superman plays by the rules, and that in itself is a bigger Achilles heel than kryptonite.
The Cape Crusader on the other hand has a bit of a dark side, he is not above a little skullduggery if it is required. I can see the man in the cowl bending the rules to fix the fight, and it's not like his alter ego Bruce Wayne does not have the resources or means to get the job done. Does anyone one think that Gotham's very own billionaire can't get his hands on a little kryptonite? Please lets not be nave about this.
Still not convinced are you? Well, lets look at it another way. Which of the two Superheroes' has been killed before? That would be the Man of Steel, he died in the comic book "Superman #75: The Death of Superman (1993)." So it is possible to get ride of Metropolis own goody two shoes.
So how would Batman go about it? Well, lets cover the plot shall we? It would all start as a petty squabble of ethics. Superman questions Batman's morals and ethics and kindly points out to the cave dweller that "the ends do not always justify the means." Batman then tells the Man of Steel to butt out of Gotham, and go back to Metropolis or the farm, his choice of course. Superman shrugs his overgrown shoulders and leaves. The Cap Crusader though starts to think about an encounter with Superman, believing that the All-American boy in the red, white, and blue spandex will be back to interfere with him at some future point in time. So he does what any other billionaire in his shoes would do, he starts to buy large chunks of kryptonite (which has been around since the 1940's in its pure form and since the 1970's in the man made variety) and taking it to his secret lab to create his latest gadget, the "holo-krypto-dome." The dome is a projected holographic kryptonite that would encompass both superheroes if they were to fight. It is stored in the Bat's utility belt.
Once the two heroes meet, Batman turns on the aforementioned "holo-krypto-dome," and takes on the Man of Steel. Of course without his powers, Superman is no matched for the man trained in the martial arts, and Batman makes short work of Superman. Now, before anyone asks, no DC comics hasn't called me about my plot line yet, but I am waiting by the phone just in case.
