Republicans don't have bad intentions. They don't go into the presidency intending to be a dictator. They just have a specific agenda they think everyone will agree with. When presidents like our current one find out the hard way that their ideas aren't perfect, they start abusing presidential powers. And if Congress is also Republican, they'd pass any crazy bill he proposes just so they won't seem like traitors to their own party. Republican presidents love democracy..... if that democracy grants them the right to do whatever the heck they want. Because the Republican party is the "Party of God" and the President is kind of like the leader of his party, Republican presidents have always thought of themselves as messengers of God sent to right all the wrongs of the Earth. In reality, all Republican presidents are are arrogant right wingers with a law degree and enough charisma to either rally all of the South or, in the cases of 2000 and 2004, rig an election.
