Introduction
Society is an arrangement of functional, cognitive, and cultural structures, in addition society changes as any element, and the process of change is constant. As technology is altered values are preached and rejected as roles are achieved. Possible link are made by adaptation and adjustment of change that creates stress. Through political or technological revolution a society may experience significant changes within its functional system. Ideology is the force that holds a society together and gives it meaning, in spite of change. Ideology is an illustration of an imaginary relationship to an authentic surrounding of life. Ideological alterations on a large scale are revolutions. Evolutionary change is what constantly marks society, and revolutionary change is what literally changes society into something not previously experienced by the individuals within.
Changes from Technological Advancements
Obligations in a technological society are imperative moral commitments, and responsibilities, to investigate, improve and support societies understanding in addition to its development. In a technological society humans have an obligation to investigate ways that science can improve the lives of people worldwide. Problems of poverty, human illness, and environmental ruin are increasing complex and devastating issues that the entire world has to deal with. Many of the most intricate troubles of humanity have a history of being solved by science and technology. Investments in technology will provide educational and operational efficiencies, which in turn will allow for the continuation of technological advancements. Technology assists both civilizations as well as individuals in general to extend capabilities to meet their goals. Increasing possibilities to have power over nature is due to technology advances. Freud notes that the many advances in nature and sciences and their technical application go beyond what was previously imagined possible, and that man has the right to be proud of this. However, he concludes, "power over nature is not the only pre-condition of human happiness, just as it is not the only goal of cultural endeavor." (Freud:39). While he recognizes the positive aspects of technology, he labels them as "cheap enjoyment" (Freud:40) and argues that technology creates many conditions that cause misery as well.
