What do on line friends mean to you, is best described in the following email I sent to all my email friends just a few days ago, June 21 of 07, I dedicate this to a very dear email and personal friend as well who died this week. ( To My Friend Barb)

Concerning emails friends:
I'm a fairly new computer person. In fact, just a year & half. In that year and half, I've heard many pros and cons concerning emails. Yes , in this year and half I have received many emails, some I have

consider very distasteful. However I have received hundreds that have been fun, uplifting, and some very spiritual. Some most informative, I've learned much through emails and the Internet.I have gained much knowledge.

Yes I'm aware there are much bad stuff going around out there, however we have the choice to click on or off. For all the bad out there, the good of the Internet out weighs it by far.

In this year and half of cumputering, when some of you found out I had email, I began receiving emails from you. Thus each time, it seemed friendships deepened, some emailed me through functions I work with or a committee I was on and I hadn't met you face to face, and yet, I would look forward to your emails, and it wasn't long until I considered you my email friend.

I find through emails, even those forwarded on, one learns much about the person. People tend to share their heart more, maybe is it because, they don't have to be nervous speaking, or feel they'll not be put down, or they just feel more free.
It's fun to see the name in my in box and wonder what have they sent today. One feels as though they've had a visit from someone very special. The beauty of it is the speed of which word can travel and our would seems much smaller.
I said all that to say this:
In the past year and half, I'd gained a very special email friend, she worked for my brother at his auto auction for several years, and after his death she continued working for my sister-in-law and nephew. I knew her quite well, we were at many family functions together, as all my sister-in-law's employees she called my mother Granny and my daddy Poppy . She was much like a family member, even though I had known her almost 20 years, I really got to know her in the last year and half through emails. She saw my address from one my nephew had forwarded to her, and thus she began emailing me. Our friendship depended, and as her cancer worsened, we shared many emails concerning the good Lord.
I looked forward to seeing her name in my in-box.
