I've never played in Spain and never will. This is my last contract. - Thierry Henry, May 2006
I still have to pass a medical on Monday. But yes, I have chosen Barcelona. I am going to sign there for the next four seasons for the football they play, their history, their stadium. For Frank Rijkaard, who I grew up watching. - Thierry Henry, June 2007
What a difference a year makes. Not a year to remember which could be why Henry has had a change of heart. He was made captain and it wasn't really for him. He spent half the season on the sidelines and watched the rest of the team struggle at times but still maintain a Champions League spot. Henry's future has always been in doubt since the departure of David Dein from the Arsenal board. Last summer he was speculated to leave and this summer is the same. It would have been the same in the next 3 or 4 years had he stayed. I do wish him luck at Barcelona. To be honest I couldn't care less if he broke his leg in the first game or went on to score 30. The reported 16m price tag is a joke. That's the same as Darren Bent for gods sake. However Arsenal have a habbit of buying cheap and selling cheap. Vieira left for 13m, Pires left for free, Cole left for 5m + Gallas and now Henry is off. Four players that made Arsenal what they were in the few years of glory have all gone and not one has been replaced. Wenger will probably be the next one off. If he does go please bring in a manager who will buy players to replace these.
Arsenal do have a lot of great youngsters who one day could make the club as good as it was a few years ago but in the meantime we are going to struggle especially if we get a lot of injuries. This summer will be very interesting indeed. If Wenger stays and can bring in the right players then maybe Henry's departure will not seem like such a huge dent in the club.
