It seems that people who suffers migraine and certain other neurological illnesses experiences a worsening effect when drinking red wine, whereas white wine seems to be neutral. This is probably caused by the tannins from the grape skin.
People with heart problems and other cardiovascular diseases benefits from moderate amounts (i.e. 2-3 glasses of wine a day!) of red wine, where white wine again is neutral.
This is a fact, although no one knows for sure what the underlying mechanism could possibly be. All sorts of explanation has been give, but the content of antioxidants in red wine could be a good candidate.
The real strange thing is that heavy drinkers as a group have far less heart attacks as normal drinkers - but then they have other problems such as liver necrosis and strange mental behaviour.
