How to care for long hair

curly hair) there began to form a knot on the back of my head. I tried every slippery agent in my entire house, even mayo, to get the knot out. After an hour and a half of working with it, the thing had just become bigger and tighter. I started to phone salons telling them "I have a hair emergency," and finally someone took pity on me and cut the "hair ball" out.

While it may be fun to try braids, putting long hair "up", and adding clips, etc. in very long hair takes extra time not only to "do" but to "undo". For a special event one time I decided to put tiny white silk flowers in my hair attached to a spiral-like wire. I purchased these hair accessories like this so that you will not think I made this myself. It was specifically designed so that you could simply place the flower anywhere on your hair (side, top, or for very long hair even in the longest strands) and it would not fall out. I went to the event and looked great, however, taking the wire spirals out was more of a problem than what I expected. My husband had to help "unscrew" the spirals and when he did my hair became spun around them. We ended up pulling or cutting my hair off just to get those silly flowers out of my hair or they'd still be in there.

Purchase three times the amount of hair shampoo and conditioner than you'd normally buy, or better yet, get to know a salon manager and see if you can buy in quantity discount. Have a shelf just for your hair-care products in a closet or better yet a closet just for hair-care products, because you'll need space for all the bottles you will go through. Don't forget to recycle the bottles, ladies, since there will be many more than you'll think.

Oh, and about the color...my original hair color was dark brown. So when I started to see gray coming in too fast to rip the little gray ones out, I bleached my hair and that's how it turned reddish with blond highlights. Now, think for a moment about how much hair colorant I needed to purchase to bleach hair that was that long. Then when my roots got dark I had to continue bleaching. Quite an expensive process this was.

Eventually, I cut my very long hair and donated it to the source for making wigs for girls going through chemotherapy. My hair was then above-the-shoulder and still blond. A few months later I decided to go back to my original hair color, and now it is dark brown. Will I ever grow it out that long again? I'll have to think a long time about that answer.
