into the white porcelain bowl while sitting on it. Getting in and out of the car was another effort since hair would often get closed in the car door or stuck in the seat belt. Worse yet was my dog's retractable leash unit, which "ate" a nice portion of my hair one day while my wiener dog and I were out taking a walk and he decided to run around my feet while barking at another dog. I remember having to choose between my hair and the continued pull of the leash which was going higher and higher toward my head. I broke my hair off and carried that haystack in both hands back home as if I could glue it on again! No, once it is damaged like that you can simply be glad you didn't lose more.
How about long hair being so easy to style? You just comb it out and let it dry...off you go, right? At least that's what people thought, especially for curly hair so why not for straight long hair too? If it's beautiful to look at, why not just let it hang and dry naturally? And the answer is: it would take over one entire day to dry naturally if I did not use a blow-dryer. Huh? That's right. The weight of long hair, when atypically long, does not allow the root area or any area at the top of your head to circulate air. Unless you hang upside down outside on a breezy day, then you just might be able to get very long hair "naturally" dry. I tried to dry my hair without a blow-dryer while camping with my long hair and it took parts of two days to finally complete the job. By then, I looked like a rat that had been dipped in oil or something that made hair go "flat" since there wasn't any bounce or height to it. It actually looked better before I washed it than after! How long does it take to blow-dry very long hair? Longer than you'd think. By flipping your head over so that the hair hangs upside down and air circulates to the roots the drying process speeds up. At this rate I was able to complete the job in about 45 minutes. That meant extra effort for my blow-dryer, which I went through about every three months.
Here are some other things that go along with very long hair if you wish to grow yours out. Very fine and naturally curly hair is a recipe for disaster if you have very long hair. It will knot and get into tangles so easily that you will even try detangler for babies (which is what I did in desperation). I once had a job interview so I washed my hair to look really good prior to going. For some unknown reason, combing it out while wet (the only time one can comb long
