Never being late for work: Tips

Never being late for work seems impossible to many people! Some of us find it very hard to get there on time. After all, a number of small events have to happen on schedule in order for you to be on time. There are days that you'll fail: car accidents, travel problems, family sickness, weather problems, forgotten medical appointments - sometimes it seems like the whole world is trying to make you late! Many employers are strict about being to work on time: in some cases, you may lose pay if you start your workday late. But fret no longer: here are some ways to make sure you get to work on time.

I'd like to suggest three methods to help achieve your quest to never be late for work. These three methods to get you to work on time are simple, relatively easy, and very effective.

PLANNING

First, figure out when you must be on the road in order to make it to work on time. This is your departure time.

Second, create a list of tasks that need to be done before leaving for work and the sequence in which they must be done. Look at all of your morning activities, figure out how much time you need for them, and subtract them from your departure time. This is the time that you need to be out of bed and starting your morning preparation routine.

Third, I strongly suggest that you subtract anywhere from five to thirty minutes from your latest possible wake up time. Why? Simple: a great way to get to work on time is to plan to be there EARLY. This gives you a "buffer", an amount of time which can absorb the unforeseen delays that can arise during a work commute. The longer your commute is, the more buffer time you should allow. You now have an adjusted wake up time. Set your alarm clock for this time!

This is now your standard morning schedule. This is step one of planning.

Step two of planning is to maintain a regular weekly schedule, showing the important events for each day. Put anything and everything in this schedule that is a significant time obligation that could interfere with your morning schedule. If an appointment does interfere with your normal routine, then you know that you have to move to the next method: preparation.

PREPARATION

Preparation requires you to look at your regular schedule and to do whatever you need to do to meet that schedule and to be ready for scheduled appointments. Do you need clean clothes? Wash, dry, press and get them ready to go the night before! Will you need cash, checks, or your credit card to make a purchase during the day? Need
