The Electoral College: Does my vote mean anything?

by Ajene

No,votes absolutely do not count. Truth be told, counting votes really isn't the issue. In a nutshell, the electoral college was created to protect the interests of rich/educated white men. During the time of its creation, only the wealthy obtained any sort of education. The wealthy, were greatly outnumbered by the poor and grew very concerned about a so-called democracy. As the article suggests,if a democractic system was in place, uneducated folks could very well become leaders. However, please do not misunderstand me; an impressive educational background is not indicative of wisdom. Wisdom is the application of knowledge. Many of our leaders, who were smart but unwise, chose to lead in ways that created imbalances among people. Those imbalances created a myriad of problems for this country. Wisdom would not do this. The electoral college was one of many ways educated white men duped uneducated white men for control of this nation.
