Diet pills are something available at every general health and fitness store, drug store or supermarket. It is not feasible to ban the entire product but there are certain ingredients that should, and have been banned.

There are dietary supplements that are holistic, and contain herbs such as Hoodia to suppress hunger, or ginseng to increase your metabolism. There are over 100 ingredients in diet pills banned by the FDA currently these ingredients make up the whole of the medication, and it is important that diet pills contain safe ingredients. Than there is no reason that they should be banned.

Diet pills as a whole should not be banned because pharmacological intervention becomes necessary when individuals have tried every other method to lose weight and the obesity is becoming a threat to the health, or even the life of the individual.

Do we go as far as banning gastric bypass surgery for the individuals who require it? Do we go as far as saying "You are fat, and you must stay that way unless you diet and exercise and lose weight the old-fashioned way". This old fashioned way' is rarely used, as most of us, including myself are searching for that quick fix. This quick fix is in diet pills, and if we use diet pills that are safe there is no reason for the banning of such products!
