AN UNINVITED GUEST

An Uninvited Guest

I'm living in a hornet's nest;
I need to get my beauty rest.
A certain problematic pest
Has placed me under house arrest.

What might have been, and make-believe,
Beyond what minds may dare conceive,
Imaginings without reprieve
Have caused my ease to take its leave.

Creative musings, deepest thought,
Are leaving me downright distraught.
My eyes are teary and bloodshot;
To sleep and dream, nay, I cannot.

I need a pleasant, peaceful place,
A simple, sympathetic space,
Where I can find a change of pace.
Lord, that would be a saving grace.

Ideas appear, like unplanned callers,
Midnight interruptions, brawlers,
Stealing slumber, as free-fallers,
Counting sheep, instead of dollars.

I'll place a pad beside my bed
To jot the thoughts my mind has bred,
For inspiration, left unsaid,
To clear the clutter in my head.
