Why you should vote in the next election and why it's worth it

Stand up and Vote

Voting is both your civic duty as an intelligent, tax-paying, American citizen and a great way to express yourself in our democracy. The real world has probably reshaped the ideals you held while taking your civics classes, but there are still compelling reasons to take an active role in the process.

If you vote, your conscience will be silent throughout the post-election coverage. Admit it, if you don't vote, your conscience activates that "you should have voted" admonition every time you see election results or hear an election analysis. You have enough to think about, vote!

Do your parents have trouble paying for their prescriptions? Do you have adequate medical insurance? Are gas prices taking a big chunk out of your discretionary income? Our government's decisions affect our lives and voting gives us an opportunity to affect those decisions.

Is your distrust of politicians based on what you hear and see in the media? Put some effort in your own research of the candidates and the issues. Internet research makes it easy for you and your local library can help you. All you need to do is get started.

Make a declaration that you will persevere in your forming your opinions and that you will stand alongside the founding fathers and vote!
