There is no bigger debate among comic fans that this character versus that character. And in the world DC Comics there are no more iconic characters than the Man Of Steel and the Dark Knight. I have heard so many theories it is ridiculous about both sides (even heard Superman referred to as a God once). But in the end this is a debate and and here are my thoughts.
On the one side you have Kal-El, the Man of Steel also known as Superman. Sent here by his father to save him from his dying world. Empowered by our yellow sun, he is indestructible by man-made weapons, and has breath that can freeze instantly. Also heat/laser beams from his eyes as well as flight and vast amounts of strength. His only weakness is pieces from his homeworld that landed here from space. This makes him one of the most powerful beings on the planet.
In the black corner there is Bruce Wayne, the Dark Knight also known as Batman. The only survivor of a mugging that killed his mother and father. In the time sense he traveled around the world to learn martial arts and other skills to fight against evil and corruption. Also with his family fortune he was able to equip himself for this fight with the latest technology. All of this made him into the a formidable warrior who is feared simply by his symbol.
Now that the stage has been set, as they say, it just comes down to the fight. Superman would come out strong, using his brute force to come out swinging. Trying to get the advantage early on. Batman would maneuver out of the way with his natural agility as well as grapple gun. He would also go on the offensive with some explosive Batarangs and mini-grenades.
A quick blast from his heat rays and Superman would destroy the Batarang and the grenades would explode but not even make a tear on his costume. Kal-El would begin to attempt another offensive but would suddenly find himself weakened by a green glow. Batman, who always researches all he can about his enemy, knew his enemies weakness before they began. And was prepared with a piece of kryptonite in a pouch on his belt, specially lined to contain the radiation.
Victory goes to Batman as he slips away as the spotlights try to find him to present him with the victory prize.
