Can Beckham save Major League Soccer?

If that question requires only a one-sentence answer, then my answer will be: Soccer is a team sports. Period.
David Beckham is, without a doubt, one of the best footballers to grace the game. His free-kicks had wowed so many, and his laser-guided set-pieces are swung in with such pin-point accuracy that one wonders if they are watching a scene from "Fifa 2007". However, still, the notion of soccer is a team sports will kill off any of his skills.

So what if he can curve in a free-kick when he was in Manchester United? So what if he managed to bring a title home with Real Madrid with his form? In Manchester United, Andy Cole and other prolific strikers (then) catch his crosses well. He was surrounded by players the likes of Gary Neville and Andy Cole. In Real Madrid, he has Raul or Robinho at the penalty box to catch his cross.
But LA Galaxy?
Even if, in an event that Beckham managed to bring LA Galaxy to a new level, that is what it is all about: LA Galaxy. LA Galaxy can be the champions for the next two years, and people may relate MLS just to LA Galaxy. But we are talking about saving MLS, not LA Galaxy.
There must be a number of teams to coalesce a good league, and bringing in just a good play is as good as buying another ten thousand fans to a match. In order to save a league, to make sponsors come in regular, what they need is not a good player, but ten good teams. To create a good team, you need eleven good players, so in total, unless MLS managed to bring in one hundred and ten David Beckham, he alone will not save the team.
The team, maybe, but not the league.
