This is a tough decision, but it is clear who should go for the number one overall pick, Greg Oden.
Basically, Portland is looking for the guy who will make the bigger difference in the upcoming season, and that is Oden. Oden is big, strong, and fit for the NBA. Oden will go into the NBA and immediately become one of the top centers currently playing, and will make a tremendous impact on the team.
Durant, on the other hand, won't make a difference his rookie year. He needs to get a few years under his belt before he makes a difference. It is extremely difficult for guys like Durant to come into the league and make a big difference, mostly because of other great guys playing the same position. Grant will become a great player eventually, but right now, he's not the guy that Portland is looking for.
Drafting Oden would be the smart thing to do for the Portland Trailblazers. Oden isn't afraid to get down and dirty when it comes to playing, and that is just what he needs to do to make it big time in the NBA. He is a big, physical player who can possibly power Portland back to the NBA playoffs in the near future.
