In today's world, love has been replaced by money as probably the most important thing in the marriage. Money probably causes most of the arguments, and money is why many people choose who to marry in the first place. Even in arranged marriages today, parents choose for their daughters (and some cases sons!) a spouse that will provide, above all, security.
I for one am someone who still maintain very high values for marriage, but I also am not someone who will marry someone I love, who does not love me back. I don't want to get married simply because my future spouse is rich and I would hate for my spouse to remain with me, simply because of the financial security I may provide.
A pren-up after all does not necessarily prevent 100% of one's assets to remain theirs, it is simply an agreement protected by law, should there ever be a divorce!
