A person may be asked this question and think, "just by breathing I'm alive." These people have probably not felt the exhilaration of an all fulfilling passion that makes us feel fully present and here on this earth.

Perhaps you have one particular thing that makes your life alive, perhaps more that one. For me the biggest is my children. When I look into their faces and know I helped make it possible for them to be here, that there is a part of me in them, and that they love me unconditionally, I feel amazing. When I see them doing something as simple as turning their faces to the wind to feel the breeze it reminds me to be fully present in the moment.

The other thing that makes me feel alive is being out in nature. When I am not surrounded by concrete and brick but by flowers and trees the smell seem to invade my whole self and feeling the dirt under my feet seems to send up an energy all the way up to my head.

Looking at both of these things what they have in common to me is they are both gifts, given to me by the higher power that put me here. Whether you call it God, Spirit, or by another name the gift it gives us make us feel alive when we accept them.
