The Incomplete Truth' of Global Warming
Recently I have noticed that seemingly every time we watch TV or open a newspaper we come under a barrage of trendy new political buzz words such as climate change', carbon footprint' and other assorted terms associated with global warming that are being shoved down our throats at an alarming rate. But how much do we really know about global warming? Forgive me for being a cynic, but when we are being lectured about how we' are destroying the planet by politicians (Al Gore, whose environmental track record during his time under Clinton left little to be desired) and super-rich celebrities (John Travolta, a man who has his own airfield and no fewer than FIVE private jets) I tend to take it with a pinch of salt. Especially when their solution to this scientific phenomena is to raise taxes, thus making us, the tax-payers, foot the bill. The implication is that throwing money at the problem of global warming is somehow going to solve it, a solution I find a little hard to swallow.
At any rate, if you think you know all about the global warming debate and have already made your mind up about us namely the human race being responsible for the phenomena, I suggest you take a look at some of these simple truths about global climate change. These facts have been put forth by a plethora of scientists, professors, climatologists and weather experts who have presented rational science to expose the myths about climate change that are constantly portrayed in the media as fact, or as Al - I let Bush into the White House' - Gore likes to call it, the Inconvenient Truth'.
Firstly, climate change is natural and has been happening since the Earth began. Remember the Ice Age? At the time our ancestors were running around throwing spears at woolly mammoths. The glaciers eventually retreated and mankind flourished, all thanks to a change in climate, which co-incidentally cannot be solely put down to rising carbon dioxide levels. Needless to say, this great thawing of the earth had nothing to do with us. To suggest that the human race is solely responsible for the current trends of global warming assumes that the world temperature otherwise remains a constant. As science and history shows, this is clearly not true.
Indeed, the Earth's history is one long story of climate change. There were several periods in history, notably the Medieval Warm Period which were much warmer than today, so warm in fact that Britain had a booming wine trade due to
