Poetry: Disillusionment

DISILLUSIONMENT

Life's hopes -
Streamers trailing on the winds of destiny
leading to the uncertainty of shattered dreams.
Nature's onslaught heir to reality,
with here & now irrelevant to
what was & what will be:
A wish inspired curse.
Respite a utopian heaven:
The domain of saints.
Earth blessed by ignorance,
now cursed by knowledge born from ignorance.
Escape reeking of genocide.

Man seeking redemption,
suffering the justice of conscience,
pained by salvation lost.
God all knowing:
Unknowingly an accomplice demanding respect
through promises of retribution.
Satan deceivingly innocent,
knowingly corrupt.
Respect granted by acts of retribution.

Revelations veiled with ambiguities:
An elixir of madness.
Sanity a measure of social standing:
Insanity the alternative.
Social order collapses due to personal needs -
their rights unquestioned.
An oppressed majority by opportunists on the fence
display a respectable air of possessions gained.

A silent minority strugging to the inevitable end.
Forever persecuted.
Forever struggling.
Silent;
in reverberating enlightenment.
