Poetry: Ulterior motives

..It takes many types to make a world, a cowards the one that uses spite in word,
start a rumor and spread it round to alienate you from the town,
He was spoiled and used to being the center of attention,
but to mutual friends you added another dimension.

..Jealousy bites bringing the coward to the fore,
tries to berate old friend as others adore.
A persona created in his own mind, can't let his mates know the lies he had bind
as a stranger to the fold, the group listens to the new stories told

..Once a mate that partied together, knows too much, his truths the coward must tether
Woven lies of rough and tumble, repeats the plot but avoiding all fact made him stumble
Manipulate the people all round, grind new bloke into the ground
Ability is what he lacks, to make tall stories for respect from the pack

..To say a correction in one of their ears is what this desperate coward fears.
Over time the truths come out,"He's lying" is what the coward shout,
"You've known me longer than he!" he says to his wife who now wants to be free
"I've lived with your lies for too long ,your gutless, not big and strong"
Now he sits alone at the club pondering his life of lies as he gets the snub.
