I worked as a crew person and later as a shift "swing" manager for McDonald's between 1985 and 1990. I thought I would share a few funny experiences I had:
I was the closing manager one night, and a customer approached the counter to inform me that a child had "used the bathroom" in the plastic ball pit on the playground. I went out to investigate, and, sure enough, about 10 kids were jumping and playing in the affected (#2) balls. I evacuated the ball pit, and then pondered what to do next. I only had 3 or 4 workers with me that night, so there was really no one to clean the balls, and how would you do it, anyway? The crew people and I were standing in the lobby, contemplating the dilemma of the offending balls, when a young man came running in one of the side doors, yelling "Aaaaahhh!". He had boxer shorts over his head with his arms through the leg holes, and briefs on his bottom half! I just looked at him. He ran through one door and out the other (it must have been a dare of some kind). One employee put her hands in the air; she thought it was a robbery! We ended up leaving the ball situation for the next day's manager, who had the maintenance man spray them off.
The McDonald's I worked at was in a parking lot adjacent to a grocery store. Shopping carts would mysteriously roll down into our parking lot on my shift, usually when a supervisor was doing a checkup on me. I put the sundae machine together once and forgot a gasket or o-ring, or something, pressure built up, and during lunch it spewed sundae mix all across the front, hitting the store manager in the leg! These are just a few of my McDonald's experiences!
