I was living a life
that was not of my own
Always with someone
But always feeling alone

Didn't make a decision
That ever did me any good
Always setting myself back
From where I once stood

I was completely lost in life
I couldn't find a way out
I couldn't seem to grasp
What life was all about

I wasn't near being happy
Especially of whom I had become
I showed no emotion
And my insides became numb.

I made one more mistake
Until I was too ashamed to be me
I was so sick of being
who I didn't want to be.

So I ran from everything
from everything I once knew
I ran in the right direction
Because I ran right into you.

You saw the beauty left within me
That no one else could see
You gave me back my hope
You somehow set me free.

You listened to every word
That others didn't have the time to hear
Not only did you listen
But you heard me very clear

You've loved me from day one
And you've never had a doubt
Not only did you show me how to live
You also showed me what love was about.

I now enjoy the gift of life
And I get to enjoy it with you
Never will I take it for granted
The way that I used to
