The 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited appears to be the first of its type, until one looks its more sleek counterpart, the Hummer, which seems to be the one-and-only true rival of this vehicle. Though the Wrangler Unlimited is still all Jeep, its new design with the longer wheel-base (116 inches, a full 20.6 inches longer than standard models) and, for the first time in a Wrangler, four doors, gives it that "armored car" look and appeal... until one takes the top off (the standard soft-top or optional hard-top comes in three pieces, allowing for designs up to the full convertible). Then there is no mistaking this vehicle to be all Jeep, with nothing to compare.
The 2007 Wrangler Unlimited comes in three models: The X, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price starting at $21,885; the Sahara, with standard power locks, windows, remote keyless entry, and an MSRP of $26,260; and the Rubicon, available only in four-wheel drive, arriving with standard features of 32 inch B.F. Goodrich off-road tires, heavy duty Dana front and rear axles with electronic Tru-Lok lockers, an electronic front sway bar disconnect, and a heavy duty Rock-Trac transfer case with 4:1 low range. The Rubicon was named "4x4 of the Year" by "Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road" magazine, and starts off with an MSRP of $30,595.
Offered with a six-speed manual transmission (or optional four-speed automatic) and 202 hp, 3.8-liter V6 Engine, in two-wheel and four-wheel drive models, the off-road capabilities stay true to the original design. One of the design's most prominent features lies in the unique capability of being able to strip it down to the bare essentials for an off-road adventure, including the removable doors, removeable top, and the fold-down windshield, standard in all three versions.
With seating room for five, more leg room for passengers than ever before, gas mileage ranging from 17 to 22 mpg, and slated to tow up to 3,500 lbs., the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is claimed to be the one of the best-driving and most original Jeep models to date.
