The trend in amateur celebrity news blogs

If it worked for Perez Hilton and made him a B-grade red carpet star, why can't it work for someone else? At least that tends to be the theory most of these amateur celebrity news bloggers tend to work by.

Personally I think most of them are simply ripping off news articles from other places. They sit on the net, surfing the latest news sites and other celebrity blogs, only to rip off their content and add their own captions and take on the situation. This is hardly worth the read most of the time. Sure it might be amusing, but chances are, most of their stories are already in celebrity gossip magazines or even on the news or in the newspaper before you even have a chance to read them online.

Perez Hilton started out this way. He started by getting what he could and working with it, back before many other people caught on to the possibility of blogging to fame. The difference was that because he was a pioneer to the concept, suddenly people started to pay attention, celebrities included. Seeing themselves revealed in all their ugly glory then prompted some of these celebrities to attempt to befriend Perez, realizing that his sources went a bit deeper than the average news story. They noticed that he had inside sources and friends in very high places, so to keep him on side, he suddenly became a celebrity too, with invitations to parties and premieres that had only been reserved for celebrities in the past. Now Perez even gets calls from the stars themselves, tipping him off on their latest accomplishments so that Perez can blog them and offer them positive publicity on his site.

Perez got very lucky. He also did a lot more than sitting at home on his computer, scouring the net for possible gossip and news about the rich and famous. Instead he left the house and made contacts with assistances and bar tenders at the trendiest clubs and paparazzi. That way he got real inside stories and not the type that the rest of us read later on by a journalist. He took the gossip and the trash and published it on his website, often complete with photos and visuals. What made his site so unique was the simply fact that it was first time news and not the regurgitation of other people's stories like so many other amateur bloggers.

Everyone hopes for a get rich scheme or a sudden shoot to fame. Many people also over estimate how interesting what they have to say really is. While I have seen some good amateur blogs online, with interesting articles, the only ones that really seem to pack any type of punch are the one's who write well. Poorly written content, regardless of how juicy it is, will get you no where. So of those celebrity bloggers out there, in the hundreds of thousands, very few will ever really make something of themselves and even then, they can probably expect regular visitors and a reasonable monthly google adsense income, but very few will ever find what they are really looking for, and that is the fame and popularity that Perez Hilton has found as a celebrity news blogger.
