to understand what you feel about his treatment of you. And chances are that he thinks he is not a racist. After you have expressed yourself in clear language, your job is done, he has a lot think about and he will treat the next black person better. And, I must also mention that one more reason not to shout is that, they are quick to label people mentally unstable or disabled, and screaming is one of the symptoms.
Once I understood this power I had, to put a racist on notice, I have gained much more strength than the dejection that usually follows my screaming row. Take it from me, I know the power of calm words. I tried it out in a Restaurant I had visited recently. Imagine waiting for 35 minutes for a waiter to come and ask you what you need. To them I could have been part of the furniture in the restaurant. Otherwise, how do you explain that I sat down and after the first 20 minutes asked a waitress, how I can get some food to eat and she kept me for another 20 minutes?
Having exhausted all my patience and tired of seeing all the people streaming into the restaurant welcomed with huge smiles, I walked up to the Manager and said " it is obvious that black people are not welcomed here", and what a startle as she looked for her answers. Well, I bet she must have remembered that only a month ago two black men won a case against a restaurant that refused to serve them. Well, expect that the wait at restaurants might be longer than normal.

You great aunty Ceci told me that it happened to her, and she calmly told the young lady to be rest assured that she had no intentions of robbing the shop: The power of calm words. Now imagine her face with all the colours on it. It happens to all of us, rich or poor and black and it will happen to you.
As I scan my brain for what stories to tell you, for they are so many, I would have to write about it everyday, for it is a daily trend, but in general, you should expect these, The cashier at the till might not have a smile for you, Never mind those at that level who are mean to you, because that's why they are where they are Ignorance. There might not always be "a room in the inn" for you, but
