My tips for starting an online business. As a stay at home mother, the convenience of starting an online small business far outweighs the more conventional method of opening a real store in a real shopping centre. I have one other hinderance that most people would not think of, that is, i do not drive. I have never had my drivers licence and am not sure whether i ever will. Time is going by so quickly and the years are disappearing in front of me. It was now or never that i start my own small business. A hobby can earn you pocket money for those things you may never acquire otherwise. Driving lessons would be a great way for me to use my pocket money but that is a whole different discussion for a whole different topic.
Does this sound a bit like you? Are you thinking of starting your own online small business? Have no idea where to start and what you are supposed to do? Do you need a bit of a shove in the right direction? Well try some of these and see how you go!
Business Name - Use a name that people would search for on google ( eg if you make greeting card try to call it something like greetingcard.com if it is available that is)
Order Business Cards - You can get these quite cheap through a company called Vistaprint.( They operate worldwide so, i live Australia so it is Vistaprint.com.au
if you live in the UK it is Vistaprint.co.uk and so on for each country)
Advertise in your local newspaper.
Send letters with your business cards to other businesses that may be interested in your products.
Give business cards to family, friends and anyone that will take one.
Join as many forums on the internet as you can.
Link your website to as many highly ranking sites as you can.
Write articles just like i am.
Display your items in other shops in your local area and give them business cards to hand out also.
Submit your website to many search engines - This will give you a good google ranking.
You may have already heard of these ways to get your business going but if you are only learning like myself just one of these tips could prove to be most beneficial for you and may save you valuable time to get on with other ways of promoting your business.
