Cell phones are a technological phenomenon! Yes, they have great advantages. For instance, someone on the road a lot needs a cell phone in case of a break down, or just to let the family know he/she got somewhere safely. It's a great advantage for the brain surgeon on call. But I think the public in general has gone overboard with cell phones. Advertisements on tv insist pre-teens MUST have their own cell phone. Go to any supermarket and there are half a dozen people on the phone asking what they should get. How about paper and pen, to make a shopping list?
Cell phones in restaurants are distracting and annoying. I'm there to relax with my family and have a meal, not listen to ring-tones that are just aggravating after the first three or four calls. Worse yet, I don't want to listen to someone complain about how bad his life is. Turn it off for half an hour and eat! The world won't end if you don't have that ear-bud on, honest.
