With apologizes to the ladies, yes, feminism is outdated. It had it's place as there was a time in which women were unfairly treated in the job market and in society as a whole. That time has come and gone. One of the main characteristics of being "one of the boys" or being accepted as being equal is to not call attention to the fact that you are not one of the boys or that you are not equal.

Women in modern America can do pretty much as they please. They have the vote, hold public offices and can advance in the ranks of the military. They can work if they choose to do so and can be stay at home moms if that is what they desire and no one judges them for either choice. In fact, there are no limit to the number of support groups for either choice they make.

Women may well not receive identical salaries to their male counterparts, but they get some considerable benefits that their male counterparts will never receive. To wit; maternity leave. If a woman decides, once she has started her career path, to become pregnant her employer is in a position that he will never be with a male employee. That is that the female worker must be allowed considerable time away from the office to have her child, recover from delivery and stay with her child while her job is held for her and her insurance benefits are not halted. Men will never get such benefits from their employers. If you suppose that this isn't quite an expensive undertaking then consider that an employee must cover for the woman out with her child or a temporary employee must be hired, health care benefits must pay out on care for both the woman and child and this scenario may repeat itself more than once if a woman stays on her job for a number of years.

Women are no longer barred from any position in any professional field as they once were. There are women in positions of great power and authority in every field of endeavor from fortune five hundred businesses to the military. No longer is the "old boys" club a thing that solely operates the giant corporations in America. There are women in command at every level of the military. There are women in the enlisted ranks of the military and our current Secretary of State is female. We have at least one woman running for the presidency in the current election.

In matters of law women have always gotten more than a fair shake in the family court system. It was a very rare thing indeed to see a man win custody
