Choosing between contact lenses and glasses

It's up to the individual. For me, it's contact lenses in public and glasses in private. Makes me sound vain, but that's honestly not the issue. I will admit that I can't find any spectacles that suit me - but that's probably because I've not tried hard enough.
The reason I wear lenses in public is because I am forever forgetting my glasses and have lost so many pairs over the years; I tend to put them in my pocket and break them when I sit on them; I hate glasses because I am always acutely aware of the rims; I have a habit of resting the side of my head in my hand - if I've wearing glasses, it's uncomfortable; I have a bulging nose and I have great difficulty finding glasses that don't hurt the bridge of my nose.
That said, I am sensible enough to whip my lenses out as soon as I get home and am on familiar ground. I know it is best to rest your eyes from lenses as often as you can. Plus, I'm hardly likely to bang into anything wandering about my own home. On the odd occasion I wander out of the houses without either glasses or lenses, I always have an embarrassing experience - a driver honks, so I wave, only to see the guy next to me waving; I walk out in front of a cyclist I haven't seen; a friend points out an interesting bird, which I can't see; I can't read the numbers in the phone book.
