The Bible is not only trustworthy it is our manual for living. In it we find the thoughts, character and will of God. We find the way to eternal life and the answers to many of life's questions. In the Bible we see the creation of the world, the fall of mankind and God's plan of redemption.
The Bible is essential for every Christian. In Joshua 1:18 it says to meditate on the word day and night. God places great value in his word. Throughout the Bible we are told to pay great attention to God's words - in doing so we will make our lives prosperous. The Bible is the word that God has given us. If it were not trustworthy then that is just like saying that God is a liar. But that cannot be true because it is impossible for God to lie (Numbers 23:19/ Romans 3:4/ Hebrews 6:18).
When Jesus was led into the wilderness he was tempted by the devil. However he did not give in to it. Instead he used the word. With every temptation that he encountered he used scripture to counteract it. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that 'The word of God is living and active sharper than any double-edged sword.' Just as Jesus used the word we should also do the same.
The Bible can set you free. How liberating is it to know that you don't have to live a life feeling guilty for all the things that you have done wrong. You can find forgiveness and put these things in the past. How would we know that if it were not for the Bible?
Finally lets not forget 2 Timothy 3:16 that says 'All scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correction and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equip for every good work.
Lets face it it takes faith to believe that the Bible is the word of God and therefore trustworthy, and without faith it is impossible to please God... If God can create the universe out of nothing, surely he can let his will be made known in a book we call the Bible.
