Talking dogs: How dogs communicate in human-like ways

I am always hearing about people going to pet stores and buying expensive pets, and in the past, I use to do the same thing. I was blessed when I went to an animal pound, and was looking at the prettiest puppy, all curled up by herself. I fell in love with her, the moment I got an eye on her. She was almost the color of copper with eyes to match. The lady took her out of her cage, and took us both to the introduction room, which I thought the puppy would come right to me. Instead, when the lady put her down, she looked up at me, and started towards the cage she had come from. I was so amazed, it was like she had given up on being adopted. Well, I adopted her, signed the papers, and walked out to my car. I put her in the car first, and she literally done a number on my car seat, and looked up at me, like there, take that.

It wasn't long before she just amazed everybody with her intelligence. If my son got out of the yard, she would whine, and come and get me. If I was going to take her for a walk, she would communicate with my lab before I even got out the door. They would be barking and carrying on, all because she communicated what was going to happen. It was when I had my surgery for my arm, that my mother told me how my intelligent dog acted. She didn't want anybody in my bedroom, as she literally stayed by my door, and wouldn't move so anybody could go in there. If one of the children start to play too rough, she will grab the back of their pants and hang on for dear life.
One night we had somebody trying to break in to our house, and she literally let the big dog do all the barking, while she quietly hid in a corner, and then proceeded to attack the person who broke in.
If you ask her if she wants a cookie, she will go over to the refrigerator, and sit and wait patiently for the cookie. If you tell her, it is time to go to bed, she will go to the bedroom, and get on the bed. She is just amazing with my guinea pigs, she likes to try to bathe them, and will come and get me if they are getting into a fight. If my cell phone is ringing, and I am in the other room, she will come and get me, making a whining noise.
I have learned that animals do communicate, as the special dog that I am telling you about does just that. My mother said it is like she can understand every word I say. I am really happy that I took the opportunity to check out a dog pound, and even more fortunate to have a dog who can communicate really great. This article is dedicated to all dogs who communicate, and to dog pound puppies. Even though, we didn't get off to such a great start, if you could see her now, you would say she is very special. This is for China, my pound puppy.
