One of the greatest signs of the upcoming next-big-thing is sincerity and perseverance and those are two traits Richie Ramsay packs with his golf shoes everywhere he travels. He's a freight train that may just give Tiger Woods and his cohorts a run for his money in the coming years.

Soon it will be Ramsay's 24th birthday, and he'll be celebrating his championship (whether he wins or he needs to try again next year) alongside friends and relatives in Aberdeen, and perhaps taking in a few pints. Regardless, this is an exciting time in his life, and his fame has yet to change is personality. He's still on track to graduate from college this month; through it all he's managed to keep his eyes on which priorities will work best for him.

An interesting note on Ramsay, and the result of his humble dealings in golf is his refusal to become a professional in the sport and accept the numerous endorsements he's been offered- this unique aspect of his personality is what has contributed to the air he has on the field, and his token- friendly sportsmanship.

Ramsay is a wonderful man on and off the field, promoting sportsmanship, and an enthusiasm in his competition that is often lacking on the green. He prides himself in the representation of his home country, which he cradled in greatness last year when he won the 06 U.S. Amateur (as the first Scotsman to win in over 100 years in this particular contest). This is a man that takes away the experience with as much joy as he might come away with a winning score.

This year may not be his year but he has plenty of time to warm up to the competition and his attitude on and off the turf is important to his upcoming hardships. The talent of this 23 year old has only started to emerge, and I'm excited to keep track of him in the next few years.
