How to get started with distance running

Starting distance running may be easier than you think it is. A lot of people think of running a lot of miles and frown upon it, thinking it's something they can't do. But in reality, if you start out the right way running can be really enjoyable.

For starters, start out at very low mileage at a slow pace. If you start out trying to run more than your capable of, you will hate it and get frustrated. To get better you need to "ease" into it, and build upon the miles as you get better and stronger.

Running will hurt at first, there's no doubt about it. If your out of shape and start to run, it won't be comfortable at first, but that's why you start out easy and get better as you go. The pain will go away eventually when you get into better physical shape.

Also, try and find someone to run with. Running by yourself can sometimes be a bad experience, if your new to running always try and run with someone else, whether it be a family member or a friend, they will make your running experience better and more enjoyable. Carrying on a conversation while running can make the run go by much faster than usual.

Another thing to try when you get comfortable with running are road races. There are thousands of road races around the country each year, chances are there are a few near you. Road races can be a great experience and a great workout. At a road race the atmosphere is different and the adrenaline will make you run faster than usual, which can boost your confidence and love for running. There is no better workout than running a race.

Running is one of the best forms of exercise to keep and shape and have a healthy body, and it can be easy to start than you think, as long as you do it the right way.
